Blood tests

New blood testing policy from June 2025

  • A consultation with the doctor is required in order to have blood testing done.

  • Book the relevant consultation type depending on your issue i.e. Gynaecological Health Consultation / Menopause Assessment / General Consultation. These consultations include blood testing, if it is appropriate. Sometimes a blood test is not needed. Other consultations are shorter in duration and do not include blood tests so please book one of these three if you require blood tests.

  • If there is a blood test in particular you want to have done please bring this up at the appointment so we can discuss whether it's appropriate in your situation, or an email advance can be very helpful. Some hormone blood tests need to be done on day 2-5 of your menstrual cycle, and some tests need to be done fasting.

  • We do offer some specialised blood tests including AMH and heart health testing. These samples are sent to a private lab. Again these blood tests will not be done in isolation and a consultation is required. They also incur an extra cost - we pass the fee that the lab charges us on to the patient.  The lab offers a courier service which needs to be booked, so these tests need to be requested by email at least 48 hours in advance of the appointment.  They only offer this service on Mondays and Fridays so the tests can only be done on these days.

  • If the doctor or nurse has asked you to come in for repeat blood tests, fasting bloods, or blood tests at a specific time of the month please email info@lifecycleclinic.ie to arrange these.

  • If blood test results are all normal, that will be relayed by email. If there are any abnormalities, or anything that needs to be discussed, there will be a follow-up phone call. A pdf copy of the blood test results can be requested - during the consultation or else via email. We need your consent before we share results via email.
